The East Greenbush Amateur Radio Association will observe the US Navy's 250th anniversary on October 13th with a Special Event Station operating aboard the USS Slater, a Destroyer Escort museum ship located at the Port of Albany.

The club will use the Slater's call sign WW2DEM and plans to operate from 10 am to 4 pm on the 40 and 20 meter bands.

The Slater is the only WW2 Destroyer Escort still afloat and restored to her original wartime configuration. During the war, she served in both the Atlantic and Pacific, escorting supply convoys and supporting troops fighting in the Pacific campaign.
